Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal (Saturday 12:30)
Two defeats in the last two games look to have put paid to any lingering hopes of a Premier League title for Tottenham Hotspur. Now nine points behind leaders Liverpool, Spurs face a second London derby of the week when they host Arsenal at Wembley. The first derby match with Chelsea last Wednesday didn’t go so well with Spurs on the wrong end of a 2-0 score and this weekend’s match should prove just as difficult with the Gunners back to something like their best.
Arsenal ran out 5-1 winners in a comfortable midweek victory over Bournemouth for a third straight league win. Despite playing away from home, a fourth successive win for Unai Emery’s team looks very probable at unbelievably good odds of 5/2.
Real Madrid v Barcelona (Saturday 19:45)
Real Madrid faced old enemy Barcelona in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday and lost 3-0. The same story looks set to unfold when the two clubs meet again this Saturday in a crucial La Liga game. Despite enjoying home advantage, Real were simply unable to cope with Barcelona’s slick passing and clinical finishing. Already nine points behind their table-topping opponents, Real simply cannot afford to lose Saturday’s game but that looks almost an inevitability with Barca in such good recent form. The Catalan giants have lost just two of twenty-five league games this season and look set to chalk up victory number eighteen with Suarez a great bet to be on target during the game.
SS Lazio v AS Roma (Saturday 19:30)
Sixth-placed Lazio’s current form is hardly inspirational as two recent victories came against bottom four teams Frosinone and Empoli while the team’s last league outing ended in a 2-1 defeat by mid-table Genoa. A scoreless draw in a midweek Italian Cup game with AC Milan may affect the team’s energy levels for this weekend’s match but a local derby should see Lazio give it their all against the old enemy.
Roma had no midweek games so should strip the fresher of the two teams. Currently six points clear of their hosts in fifth place, Roma have a real chance of a top four finish and a place in the Champions League. Two draws followed by three straight wins in the last five matches sees Roma in top form at present and good enough to sneak a narrow win with Edin Djeko a good bet for the decisive goal.

Borussia Mönchengladbach v Bayern Munich (Saturday 17:30)
Third plays second this Saturday when Borussia Mönchengladbach host Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga. This is not a good time for the home side to face the reigning Champions as Bayern have rediscovered some of last season’s form in recent weeks while Mönchengladbach’s form has dipped noticeably with two defeats in the last three games. In a rich vein of form, and looking to cut into Borussia Dortmund’s three point lead at the head of the table, Bayern Munich are understandable odds-on favourites to come out on top this weekend. Short odds of around 4/9 for a Bayern victory are hardly appealing but there should be some nice free bet bonuses available in the handicap markets as the Bavarians look good value for a two or three goal win.
Olympique Marseille v Saint-Étienne (Sunday 20:00)
Three wins and a draw in the last four Ligue 1 games have seen Olympique Marseille climb to fifth in the table and close the gap on Saint-Étienne to just two points. The two rivals for a Champions League place square off this Sunday with Marseille enjoying home advantage. The visitors have also been in reasonable form recently although the manner of their most recent 1-0 victory over second from bottom Dijon hardly inspires any real confidence for this Sunday’s more difficult away fixture.
Marseille are without midfielder Strootman for this game but should have enough ability to cope with a Saint-Étienne who will miss key players in Hamouma, Salibur and Debuchy. Not one of the best betting bonuses of the weekend but the 5/6 generally quoted for a Marseille victory looks a more than reasonable bet.
