Top 5 European Football League’s Betting Action for the weekend 16/17 October Including Leicester City vs Manchester United
Domestic football returns to Europe’s top football leagues this weekend after another interruption of international qualifiers and friendly games. A new heavyweight is in town after the takeover of Premier League side Newcastle United who now become the world richest club with a bankroll of over £300 billion and aspirations of European club football dominance.
Here we preview a host of this weekends top matches from the five best European football leagues and some of the betting action worth taking a look at.
Premier League: Leicester City vs Manchester United
Leicester City welcomes Manchester United to the King Power this weekend with both teams struggling for form in recent games. In fact, The Foxes have failed to win any of their previous four matches in the league and have had some disappointing results in the Europa League. Brendan Rodgers will be looking to tighten up his defence in order to stop leaking goals at the back. The outstanding Jamie Vardy looks fit to play and will be wanting to add to the 6 goals he has already scored so far this season.
United started the campaign on a high and welcomed back talisman Ronaldo to boost their already impressive attacking lineup. However, a recent dip in form has had some people asking questions about Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s decision making and if he really is the man to take United back to their former glories. Ronaldo, Pogba, Fernandes and Cavani are a formidable force when going forward and the introduction of Varane alongside Harry Maguire has strengthened the backline. Jordan Sancho will be hoping to start and stamp his authority in the team by showing some of the form he showed last season playing for Dortmund.
As for the bookmakers, they are predicting a low scoring game with Manchester United pinching a win, taking the pressure off under fire Solskjær.
This is the game of the weekend and a ticket for either team to rise up the rankings. Keep an eye out for more exclusive bonuses and offers around this game.
La Liga: Barcelona vs Valencia
What was once billed as a top of the table title match now sees these great clubs sitting 8th and 9th in the table with problems both on and off the pitch. With Real and Atletico Madrid both sharing the footballing limelight at the top of the table, both teams need to kickstart their season with a win to have any chance of staying in touch with the teams at the top. A win for either team would see them move up to 15 points, enough to claim 4th place if other results go their way.
Valencia travel to Camp Nou without a win in four games with only one goal scored in the last three outings. Misfiring Barcelona are taking some of the off-field problems onto the pitch, the Catalans financial problems are well documented at the moment. Ronald Koeman is under incredible pressure to get the best out of his players after a disappointing loss to Atletico. He will be relying on Memphis Depay to produce some of the quality he showed early on this season and give the home supporters something to finally cheer about. Barca are firm favourites to win the match, interestingly enough, many bookmakers are already taking bets on who the next Barca manager will be.
Serie A: Juventus vs Roma
Two of footballs top managers Massimiliano Allegri and José Mourinho face each other in what looks to be a very exciting match when Juventus host 4th placed Roma at the Allianz Stadium.
Juve had an uncharacteristic bad start to the season, losing two of the opening three games. However, Allegri has managed to steady the ship somewhat, with Juve winning their last three matches in the league as well as an impressive win over European champions Chelsea in the Champions League.
Mourinho has already put his footprint on a Roma team playing some of their best football for years. Tammy Abraham, on loan from Chelsea, has had an impressive start and looks set to be a danger man for Roma this season, a goal against Juventus would be the icing on the cake in his first game against ‘the old lady’ of Italian football. An upset is on the cards for this match, the bookies have Juve to take the points, but Jose’s teams are always well organised, a draw would be a welcome result for Roma.

Bundesliga: Leverkusen vs Bayern
By far the biggest game in the Bundesliga this weekend sees top placed team Bayern visit a very much high flying and second-placed team Leverkusen. Bayern surprisingly dropped points in their last match, losing at home to Eintracht Frankfurt. Top scorer Robert Lewandowski with 7 goals already this season will be hoping to put Bayern back on track, he scored both goals in Bayern’s 1-2 win in the corresponding game last year.
Leverkusen have won all of their last three games and head coach Gerardo Seoane knows that a home win would see his team leapfrog Bayern into first place. Even with home advantage and a full stadium of fans behind them, the bookies still have Leverkusen as rank outsiders to get anything from the match, Bayern are the bookmakers’ favourites.
Ligue 1: PSG vs. Angers
PSG were well beaten in their last match before the international break, surprisingly losing 2-0 to Rennes. Manager Pochettino will be hoping this is a minor glitch and that Messi, Neymar and company will get straight back to winning ways against fourth-placed Angers.
Angers are very much an unpredictable side, winning one and drawing two of their last three matches. With PSG already breaking away at the top of Ligue 1, a win for Angers would keep them within reach of the top three and the Champions League places. Not surprisingly, the betting action revolves completely around PSG with odds as low as 1.25 for the win.
