Top 5 European Football League’s Betting Action for the weekend 14/15th of August Including Manchester United vs Leeds United
It has been months since football fans enjoyed the action from the top European football leagues, but the wait is over as The Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga and Ligue 1 are making a comeback this weekend for the opening of the 2021/2022 season. Italy’s Serie A returns to action a week later, the first match taking place on the 21st of August. Here we take a look at some of the highly anticipated games kicking off across Europe.
Premier League: Manchester United vs Leeds United
The English top tier kicks off the season this weekend with some top fixtures. Champions Manchester City will travel to Tottenham on Sunday and Liverpool will take on newcomers Norwich City. However, our pick for the weekend’s top match is Manchester United hosting bitter rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford in what promises to be a highly charged encounter. Bruno Fernandes and new face Jadon Sancho are likely to both start for Manchester who have had quite a comfortable pre-season, putting four past Everton in their last outing.
Bielsa’s men will be looking to improve on their 9th place finish last season and will be relishing the idea of taking on Manchester in the season’s opening match. For the Mighty Whites, danger man Raphinha and last seasons top scorer Patrick Bamford will both be fit to start as well as new signing Junior Firpo. As for the bookies, they see Manchester as clear favourites to pick up all three points with a comfortable home win.
This is the game of the weekend and a ticket for either team to rise up the rankings. Keep an eye out for more exclusive bonuses and offers around this game.
La Liga: Barcelona vs Real Sociedad
The Spanish league will start the 2021/2022 campaign with a head-to-head clash between Barcelona and Real Sociedad on 15th August. While Barcelona finished strong before the international break, the confirmed exit of Lionel Messi has rocked the footballing world. Messi exits after the club confirmed their inability to keep him due to La Liga salary cap rules and financial constraints. Despite Messi’s departure, Real Sociedad is up against formidable rivals who will be challenging for first place even without club legend Messi.
In the final game between Barcelona and Real Sociedad at Anoeta before the break, Barca scored six goals, securing them second place in the table. Winning against Barcelona could be the redemption Real Sociedad needs to secure a higher place in the La Liga table and avoid relegation.
Even without the masterful Messi, the bookmakers predict a win for the Catalan’s opening match of the season.
Serie A: Inter Milan vs Genoa (21st Aug)

Bundesliga: Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Dortmund faces Eintracht Frankfurt in an unpredictable match on 14th August at Signal Iduna Park. While Dortmund has won 34 home games against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, Frankfurt recently celebrated an away win against Dortmund.
Last season, Dortmund finished strong in third position and qualified for the Champions League. Although they have lost Sancho to Manchester United, they have retained the highly coveted Erling Haaland who will be looking to continue his fine goalscoring form.
The first win against Frankfurt would be a step towards securing a better position in Bundesliga. Besides, Borussia Dortmund has won each opening game in the past six seasons, and a win would equal Bayern’s record of seven consecutive wins. While all odds seem to be against Eintracht Frankfurt, their fifth place on last season’s league table still makes them a formidable opponent.
Ligue 1: Lille vs Nice
Last season, Lille made a name for themselves by snatching the top spot in the French domestic league and knocking out Paris Saint-Germain. The race to stay at the top of French football began on Sunday 8th August with Lille kicking off the season with a draw against Metz at Stade-Symphorien.
This weekend they welcome Nice to the Stade Pierre Mauroy who also only managed a draw in their opening game of the season. As far as the betting goes for this match, Lille are clear favourites in the bookmakers’ eyes to get back to winning ways.
