Top 5 European Football League’s Betting Action 23-24th February 2019 Including Manchester United V Liverpool
After a busy midweek of Champions League and Europa League action, Europe’s top teams return to the bread and butter of league football this weekend. In England, Liverpool try to apply pressure on Manchester City in a tough away game with Manchester United while, in Germany, Dortmund seek to extend their lead at the head of the table as do Barcelona in Spain.
Manchester United v Liverpool (Sunday 14:05)
Liverpool would happily settle for even the narrowest of victories in Sunday’s difficult away fixture with arch-rivals Manchester United. Both teams are in good form at present with the impetus perhaps in favour of the home team. United looked comfortable in last Monday’s 2-0 FA Cup victory over Chelsea while the Pool were not at their best in a midweek scoreless draw with Bayern Munich. Lingard and Martial are injury concerns for the hosts who should otherwise be at full strength while Liverpool will welcome Virgil van Dijk back to marshal a sometimes rocky defence. Ordinarily, a draw would be a good result for Liverpool but with so much at stake, an away win will be the objective and should be within the title challenger’s ability.
Sevilla v Barcelona (Saturday 15:15)
Fourth in Spain’s La Liga table, Sevilla face one of their most difficult games of the season when they entertain mighty Barcelona on Saturday. A 2-0 victory over Italy’s Lazio in last Wednesday’s Europa League meeting will have set the home side up nicely for this tough fixture. Confidence will be high as Barca are not the unbeatable force of recent years and were held to a scoreless draw by French outfit Lyon in midweek Champions League action. Ben Yedder is in good scoring form for the home side and could be worth backing to score at the weekend as is Barca’s Suarez and a draw looks a decent bet at around 3/1.
Fiorentina v Inter Milan (Sunday 19:30)
Although playing away from home, Inter Milan will expect to collect maximum points when they face Fiorentina this Sunday and consolidate their grip on third place. Despite having won their last two league games, Inter may struggle to overcome their eighth-placed opponents as the team will have just recovered from a Thursday night game against Rapid Wien in the Europa League. Tiredness and injury could take a toll on the Milan players while Fiorentina should be well recovered from last weekend’s comfortable 4-1 rout of struggling SPAL. Inter are marginal favourites to come out on top but this game could easily go the way of Fiorentina and a win for the home team rates at around 2/1.

Borussia Dortmund v Bayer Leverkusen (Sunday 17:00)
Last Monday’s scoreless draw with bottom of the table Nurnberg was table-topping Borussia Dortmund’s third successive league draw as their lead has been whittled down to just three points. Coupled with recent defeats by Werder Bremen in the German Cup and an embarrassing 3-0 hammering by Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League, Dortmund are struggling at present and, with Reus and Pulisic out injured, may do so again in Sundays’ home fixture with fifth-placed Bayer Leverkusen. For the visitors, Bender and Bellarabi are notable injury absentees in midfield but Leverkusen have won their last four league games and, on current form, should be at least capable of holding their title-chasing hosts to a draw.
AS Monaco v Olympique Lyon (Sunday 20:00)
Two wins and a draw in the last three games have seen AS Monaco climb out of the relegation zone in French Ligue 1. However, that recent improvement will be severely tested this Saturday when third-placed Olympique Lyonnais visit the Stade Louis II. Monaco’s cause won’t be helped with an ever-increasing injury list and the home side will look to new arrival Cesc Fabregas to supply the ammunition for veteran striker Radamel Falcao to score any goals. Lyon were fortunate to hold Barcelona to a scoreless draw in Tuesday night’s Champions League encounter but will not face anything like the same quality in this weekend’s game. Lyon have no prolific strikers but Traore, Dembele and ex-Manchester United player Memphis Depay should have little difficulty against a porous Monaco defence that has shipped forty-one league goals this season.
