The 2019 British Basketball Cup Finals Draw Near
The British Basketball League (BBL) and the Women’s British Basketball League (WBBL) Cup finals will be staged at Birmingham once again. The venue is in the heart of Birmingham, which has become the unofficial home of British Basketball. The finals are expected to be a sell out on the 27th January, and so there is no time to lose if you want a ticket. The semi final on the 13th January between the Glasgow Rocks and the Manchester Giants will decide who will face The London Lions in the final.
Needless to say, the Nottingham Wildcats would have liked to win another Cup for their trophy cabinet but the competition has proven a little too tough this year. The Sevenoaks Suns confirmed their place in the final after beating the Leicester Riders and now they’ll play the Sheffield Hatters for Cup glory. The full Cup final schedule includes a slam dunk contest in between the women’s and men’s finals too.

Championship Standings Show A Closer Than Ever 2019 Basketball Season Ahead
The London Lions are sitting pretty at the top of the Championship standings at the moment but it’s a little misleading. Leicester Riders currently occupy fourth spot on 16 points but they have only played 11 games, If they win the next four games they will only be 2 points behind the leaders. Bristol Flyers are in a similar position, only 2 points behind the Riders in a healthy fifth in the standings.
The women’s tournament is going to be a close run thing too with the Sevenoaks Suns poised nicely in second position in the standings with a game in hand. The Sheffield Hatters and Nottingham Wildcats are both looking strong in third and fourth respectively. It’s anybody’s guess at the moment, and with another 9 rounds still left to play, everything is on a knife-edge.
